Do we need to stop the instance for AMI creation ?

Hello Guys,
This is little dicey. Yes you can have AMI created without shutting down the AWS EC2 instance. But disk consistency for journal is not guaranteed so you may end up with few files with are not usable when you try to create instance form AMI. So its always advised to create AMI by bringing instance in stopped state.
